Director - Marine

Director (Marine) – London – Permanent – Competitive Salary

Navis Consulting is working exclusively with this global travel client to source an exceptional Director (Marine). Reporting to the VP Risk Management & Head of Marine Operations, this position is accountable and responsible for all aspects of the Marine department’s daily operations, managing a team, purchasing, and budgeting, technical management, compliance and project management of the maintenance and dry dock programs. This role can be based from either London, UK or Toronto, Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In conjunction with the local marine operations team, the Director (Marine) will assist with all in field operational functions 
Day to day marine operations management with a primary focus on cruise expedition vessels 
Analysis and review of new vessels ensuring vessels are compliant with all applicable regulations 
Assist the sales and product teams where required 
Development and management of the budget operations and oversight of payments 
Provide advice on a consultative basis on technical marine matters 
Work closely with the grounds team to drive operational efficiency by identifying new ways to decrease costs and increase quality, including the development of long-term maintenance schedules and streamlining of efficient crewing schedules

Experience required:

3+ years of relevant experience in the marine industry 
3+ years in a leadership role within an operational environment, travel industry experience preferred 
Excellent financial analysis and spreadsheet modeling skills 
Experience leading and managing teams that have different skills backgrounds globally 
Marine knowledge and operational experience required 
Flexibility in terms of travel and location 
Working knowledge of the Spanish language an asset
