Description
JIME was founded in 1966 as the Japan Society of Marine Engineers, renamed the Japan Society of Marine Engineering in 2001, and became a public interest incorporated association in April 2011. Since its establishment, we have been actively working on issues related to improving the safety and reliability of marine engines, which are the most important for the safe operation of ships, while energetically conducting research on environmental issues such as energy conservation, exhaust gas issues, and prevention of marine pollution.

Tankers that carry 300,000 tons of crude oil, container vessels that transport 10,000 containers at high speed, and car carriers that can carry 6,000 passenger cars are symbols of marine logistics that support the Japanese economy. Various equipment and technologies, such as engines, are applied to these ships. The Japan Institute of Marine Engineering (JIME) conducts academic and technical research and research in areas including marine development and the marine environment, with a focus on technologies related to ship engines and equipment. It is an academic society to be promoted.
